Hourly prices are broken down into several areas. They are text work, design and image work and programming.
Text is typically handled at $75 per hour. Text is more than simply typing. It is selecting the correct font style, color and size for the web. It is usually handled by a css file. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet and is used to keep text uniform throughout a website. If you've been around the web you have seen sites that have large and varied fonts which detract from an otherwise nice looking website. You have also seen sites that have consistent fonts, colors and applied styles. We provide the latter. With Content Management Systems aka CMS you are taught how to keep your site looking nice if handling your own text. However, you can over ride our CSS and really harm the look of your site if you are not careful. This website uses CSS and you will notice a consistent look on all pages relating to text and textual hyperlinks which lead you to other pages. The minor exception is our Design Department page which uses white text on a black background for effect.
Design and Image work is handled at $100 per hour. Design and image work includes proper sizing of images for the web, color blending, shading, drop shadows and much more. A series of images and tables are used with languages like HTML and PHP to display your website. The design of your website might also include something called Flash. Flash is a type of moving graphic which can be used to emphasize a point on your website or can be used to create an entire website. We discourage people from using Flash or Intro pages and websites made entirely with Flash. The reason is Flash does not optimize well on the web. The same holds true of graphic heave websites. Graphics must be used to add the "pop" effect to your site but remember, search engines cannot read the text on an image.
Programming is done at $150 per hour. Programming uses databases to retain and return information to a web page or back end administrative area. It is the most complex area of website development and is not needed in many cases. A good example of a programmed website is PAontheweb.com which returns database results based on your searches and selections. Forms are also used to enter information into our database to display websites listed by webmasters and business owners. Another good example of database work is an online golf course reservation system. If you're a golfer you've probably seen several different kinds. There are also open source programming packages for little or no cost that you can install yourself if you have the skill.
